IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir conducted a strategic assessment along Israel’s northern border with Lebanon ahead of the upcoming holidays. He was joined by Northern Command Chief Maj. Gen. Ori Gordin, Division 91 Commander Brig. Gen. Yuval Gaz, and additional senior commanders from both regular and reserve forces operating in the sector.
During his visit, Lt. Gen. Zamir met with the soldiers and officers serving on the front lines, expressing deep appreciation for their professionalism and unwavering commitment. “If there’s something extraordinary about the people of Israel—it’s you,” he told reservists. “We will do everything possible to strengthen the reserve system in all areas. The fact that people continue to report for duty is thanks to your leadership—the commanders.”
The Chief of Staff was presented with updated operational plans covering both defensive and offensive operations along the Lebanese front. “We continue strengthening our defense while showing initiative and offensive readiness,” Zamir emphasized, underlining the IDF’s preparedness to strike preemptively if necessary to neutralize Hezbollah threats.
His visit comes as part of Israel’s ongoing military campaign, Operation Northern Arrows, launched after Hezbollah joined Iran’s multi-front war against Israel in October 2023. Since then, thousands of Hezbollah rockets have targeted Israeli civilians, prompting the IDF to conduct widespread counterstrikes that have crippled Hezbollah infrastructure and eliminated key terrorist leaders.
In addition to the operational briefing, Zamir reaffirmed the directive that Israeli civilians are not permitted to hike or travel beyond the international border. Recreational activity is allowed only in pre-designated areas within Israeli territory, subject to constant security evaluations. This directive reflects the ongoing threat of Hezbollah sniper teams and infiltration squads operating near the border.
As tensions on the northern front remain high, Lt. Gen. Zamir’s visit highlights the IDF’s dual commitment: defending Israeli sovereignty while maintaining a proactive and flexible military stance. The resilience of both regular and reserve forces continues to be a cornerstone of Israel’s ability to confront the Iranian terror axis that stretches from Gaza to Lebanon.
