Following months of intensive operations along Israel’s northern front, the Israel Defense Forces’ 36th Armored Division has begun redeploying to the Southern Command, as part of preparations for expanded activity in Gaza and along the southern security corridor.
The move follows a comprehensive maneuver exercise in Lebanon and extended operational deployments near the northern border, where the division played a key role in countering Hezbollah aggression and defending Israel’s northern communities against Iranian proxy attacks.

Strategic Redeployment Amid Multi-Front War
The transition to the Southern Command comes as Israel continues to face a regional war on multiple fronts, instigated by Iran and its network of terror proxies. With Hezbollah in the north, Hamas in Gaza, and Houthi missiles from Yemen, Israel’s military leadership is dynamically repositioning forces to ensure maximum readiness wherever threats emerge.

The 36th Division, known for its armored warfare expertise and elite combat brigades, is expected to bolster ground operations in Gaza, where the IDF continues its campaign to destroy Hamas’ remaining infrastructure and secure Israeli borders.
Operational Continuity and Combat Readiness
The IDF emphasized that the redeployment does not indicate any de-escalation on the northern front, where Hezbollah continues to launch rockets and drones into Israel. Rather, it reflects operational flexibility—redeploying forces with frontline experience to critical sectors as dictated by real-time assessments.
The 36th Division’s arrival in the south is expected to enhance the IDF’s effectiveness in executing complex maneuvers, deepening buffer zones, and eliminating entrenched Hamas positions.

Israel’s message is clear: its military remains agile, experienced, and ready to confront terror—north, south, and beyond.
