IDF Encircles Tel Sultan Neighborhood in Rafah, Expands Security Zone and Eliminates Dozens of Terrorists

IDF encircles Tel Sultan in Rafah, eliminating terrorists, seizing weapons, and expanding security zones to dismantle Hamas strongholds.

The IDF’s 14th Combat Engineering Brigade, operating under the command of Gaza Division 143, has successfully completed the encirclement of the Tel Sultan neighborhood in Rafah as part of Israel’s ongoing ground operations in southern Gaza. The mission marks a strategic step forward in the broader campaign to dismantle Hamas infrastructure and secure Israel’s southern border.

According to military sources, Israeli forces:

  • Located and destroyed dozens of weapons caches and terrorist infrastructure
  • Eliminated dozens of Hamas operatives in targeted engagements
  • Discovered two rockets and a fully operational launcher aimed at Israeli territory, hidden inside a civilian building
  • Detained multiple suspects, who have been transferred for further interrogation

Strategic Encirclement and Operational Gains

The encirclement of Tel Sultan, a dense and strategically significant neighborhood, is part of the IDF’s broader effort to expand security zones and neutralize immediate threats to Israeli forces and civilians. The area has long been a hub for Hamas operatives and weapons stockpiles, hidden in civilian structures to avoid detection.

Military officials report that the operation was conducted with precision, relying on ground intelligence and engineering capabilities to detect and destroy tunnels, booby traps, and underground command centers.

A Message to Hamas: There Are No Safe Havens

The operation in Rafah sends a clear signal: no neighborhood, no matter how entrenched, will be off-limits to Israeli forces. Hamas has long used densely populated civilian areas to shield its military operations, betting on international pressure to prevent Israeli action. But the IDF has made it clear that the safety of Israeli civilians comes first.

With the seizure of weapons, the elimination of operatives, and the discovery of live rocket systems, the operation has further weakened Hamas’s ability to strike from the south.

Continued Operations in Gaza

The IDF emphasized that operations in Rafah, Khan Younis, and across central Gaza will continue until the mission’s goals are achieved: the dismantling of Hamas, the return of all hostages, and the complete removal of terrorist infrastructure.

As long as rocket launchers are hidden in homes and terror tunnels snake beneath civilian streets, Israel will take the necessary action to defend its citizens.
