In a precise and targeted operation earlier today, the IDF and Shin Bet eliminated Mohammad Hassan Mohammad Awad, a senior military commander in Gaza’s terror network and a close associate of top operatives within the Kataeb al-Mujahideen organization.
Awad was not just a high-ranking militant—he was one of the butchers of October 7. Intelligence confirms that he personally infiltrated the Israeli community of Nir Oz multiple times during the Hamas-led massacre and played a central role in the brutal killings and kidnappings that shocked the world.
According to security officials, Awad is believed to have been directly involved in the abduction and murder of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas—a mother and her two small children whose deaths became a heartbreaking symbol of Hamas’ savagery. He was also implicated in the kidnapping and execution of Gadi Haggai and Judy Weinstein, and had a hand in the abduction of Thai nationals held hostage in Gaza.
Beyond his role in these atrocities, Awad served in the military intelligence wing of the terror group, where he helped coordinate attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians. He actively recruited terrorists from Judea, Samaria, and within Israel itself, orchestrating deadly attacks during the war and long before it.
Under Awad’s leadership, Kataeb al-Mujahideen became a more aggressive actor in Gaza’s terrorist ecosystem, partnering with Hamas and Islamic Jihad in attacks targeting both the IDF and Israeli communities.
His elimination is a significant blow to Gaza’s terror infrastructure and a powerful message from Israel: those responsible for the October 7 massacre will be hunted down—no matter how long it takes or where they hide.
The IDF and Shin Bet reiterated their unwavering commitment to dismantling every terror network that participated in the October 7 genocide. “This is only the beginning,” an Israeli security source stated. “Justice will be delivered—one terrorist at a time.”
