In a statement to Congress, the U.S. State Department justified the expedited sale by citing an “emergency situation” requiring immediate military assistance to Israel. Secretary of State Marco Rubio made it clear that this deal is in the national security interest of the United States, reinforcing America’s unwavering support for Israel as it combats an existential threat from Iranian-backed terrorism.
The urgency of this arms sale comes as Iran’s terrorist proxies, including Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and Shiite militias in Iraq and Syria, continue launching attacks against Israel.
